Call for Artists!

DEADLINE: AUGUST 5, 2008

Please electronically submit the application along with five digital images
as either JPEG or TIFF files (300 dpi)
to metartshow@yahoo.com by August 5, 2008.
Send an email inquiry if slides must be submitted.

RULES

All work must have been created within the past three years.
All work must be original.
All mediums will be considered.
Limited numbers of each medium will be selected.
25 visual artists in total will be selected.
On prints: only fine, limited edition, hand pulled prints will be accepted
(etching, litho, intaglio, silkscreen, monotype etc).
Digital printing is acceptable for photographers or digital artists.
Make sure images are relevant to the art you would like to display.
If you represent multiple mediums please submit 5 images per
medium. Acceptance of more than one medium is not guaranteed, but
will be considered.
Do not send entry fee with application!
$50.00 entry fee is required within seven days of acceptance.
Dead line for application is August 5, 2008.
All artists will a receive response by August 10th.

No commission from the sale of your artwork will be obtained by
Metamorphosis.
10% of your sales will be donated to a not-for-profit arts organization
involving the arts, which will be tax deductible (see website for details).
Artists are responsible for sales and collections of payments and taxes.
Artists are responsible for arriving 3 hours prior to the opening time to
install work (8am).
All artists and helpers will be fed (and fed well) complements of Willow.
Artists cannot remove their work until the show has ended (5:30 pm),
and are required to be in attendance through the entire show.
All artwork is the sole responsibility of the individual artist.
Metamorphosis Art Show and Willow Restaurant are not liable for any
damage that may occur to art while participating in Metamorphosis.
Metamorphosis Art Show reserves the right to refuse any artwork or
artists’ entry into the show and the display or sale of art on the day of
the show for inappropriateness, artistic integrity, or any other
administrative reason.
If accepted your work will be displayed on the Metamorphosis
Website indefinitely.

About Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis, also known as Met Art Show, is entering it's 5th years of
existence. Started by artists, Metamorphosis exists to offer artists affordable
opportunities to gain exposure in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC area.
It is a one day event always occurring on a Sunday. There are many
reasons to want to participate in Metamorphosis. The building of a
community of artists is probably my favorite reason. However I am also
really stoked when artists sell their work, we have sold close to $20,000
worth of art in three shows which is really only three days. The artists donate
10% of their sales to great arts organizations. In the past we have
contributed to ICAF - the International Child Arts Foundation, Arlington
County Schools - Arts Education Department, and Art Enables. It has been
wonderful to learn about the programs, meet the people involved and to
contribute to their good missions. As an artist you also benefit from the
continued exposure of being on the Metamorphosis website. I constantly
have people inquiring about purchasing art and I always refer them to the
site. There are also promotional opportunities involved with the show. Last
year we were interviewed live on the morning news and were able to show
several artists work. Besides all of this, it's a lot of fun!
